september shop highlights

friends, i am so excited about tomorrow's shop opening. i have been collecting fabrics & designing pieces for months just to share them with you tomorrow. this might be my favorite collection thus far. i've got butterflies, y'all!

this month's happy flag set is just so much fun. becky of one lane road hand-illustrated the barns & cabin fabric just for these flags. becky, you are a gem! thank you!

inspired by her illustrations, i curated a collection of autumn fabrics & turned it all into flags just for you. it's a very limited collection so set your alarm & grab a set (or two!) before they're gone.

september's shop opening also includes ten new headband patterns, including the corduroy floral bow band (all the heart eyes!) & a wide variety of arrow patterns. i love the richer tones of this season.

this month also includes my very limited edition of vintage floral bowbands & skinnybands inspired by the women of our past who tended to their homes & gardens with such great care. i imagine they'd wear one of these as they put the laundry on the line & picked beans. i hope you love them just as much as i do.

there are so many more surprises that will be available in the shop this thursday (9/17) at 8am cst!

as a big thank you for supporting my shop, i am offering up a coupon code for blog readers. enter "THANKYOU" at checkout to receive 15% off your order of $10 or more.

pickling party at euna mae's recap

this weekend was so much fun! i spent my saturday at euna mae's teaching three full classes of amazing ladies how to quick pickle cucumbers!
i would have never imagined i would have the honor of calling this my life's work. i love connecting with my sweet readers & spending the day sharing my passions with them. it's such a gift that i will never take for granted!

amy of euna mae's was such an amazing hostess! she radiates hospitality & light. she opened up her shop kitchen & prepared for us a beautiful tabletop of sweet treats. every detail was just so dreamy.

the gals then spent time in euna mae's shopping until they dropped! y'all her english china & american made jadeite are drool-worthy. i just can't.

euna mae's, thank you for such a wonderful pickling party!

& of course, big hugs to stephanie of fancy that design house for gifting each gal one of her rise & shine rooster prints. i framed & hung mine in my kitchen! it's just the cutest!

a slow yet productive weekend

our long labor day weekend was a perfect balance of productive & slow. we spent most of the weekend at home, finishing our flooring & catching up on home to-do's.

despite our frantic august spent dealing with soggy floors & moldy walls, i am so grateful for our new floors provided by insurance (farm bureau, thank you!). we still have molding to put up & transitions to finish, but we're settling into our fresh new spaces quite nicely.

i love how freshening up one space leads to tidying up the entire home. our new floors brought on fresh inspiration for our kitchen & i am oh so happy with the final (for now, ha!) results.

i've been slowly decluttering our home, only keeping what sparks joy & donating or selling the rest. this has lead to a nice balance of beautiful & practical.

this weekend, after a bit of rearranging, i also spent quite a bit of time in the kitchen baking & chopping. i made blueberry muffins from this recipe & chopped up roasted vegetables for the week ahead.

how are you enjoying quiet moments at home? please share!

in the garden: september 2015

if you're new to this space, welcome to the "in the garden" series! during the spring & summer months, in celebration of gardening, i share a monthly garden overview of what our garden looks like along with garden happenings! welcome!

i am absolutely giddy for september. we've been moving at such a rapid speed all summer. it's nice to sit on the sidelines for a bit of a breather this month. we're still steadily working in both the garden & the kitchen, but we're feeling a bit of a break in our schedules outside of the home.

in the garden - september 2015

we're spending late evenings in the garden weeding & harvesting. i sometimes wonder if we need a cherry tomato pickin' intern. with twenty sungold cherry tomato plants, it seems nearly impossible to harvest them all. needless to say, we've been thoroughly enjoying handfuls of them with every snack, salad & meal.

the cucumbers are already producing. we waited to plant our cucumbers & i am so happy we did. it's nice to harvest these in-between late summer & early fall garden goodies.

the green beans are flowering & soon we will have fresh beans with every dinner! we always freeze bags full for winter. i simply chop the ends off & throw them in a freezer bag; no blanching necessary.

other garden news:

+ we believe our tomatoes have late blight so we're harvesting enough to make into tomato sauce. soon we'll be removing the plants for the season. the end of tomato season is always a hard one. nothing compares to a fresh summer tomato, my friends!

+ speaking of tomatoes, i tried roasting tomatoes & they're absolutely delicious. i used this recipe & love it!

+ we are planting salad greens, radishes & salad turnips this month. i love salad season!

+ i have a big basket of bell peppers waiting on me in the kitchen to process. i chop them up & throw them in a freezer bag for winter fajitas & veggie enchiladas.

what's happening in your september garden?
love,
natalie
