the love of lilac

on saturday morning at the farmers' market, luke & i passed by a farmer's booth boasting with the most beautiful lilac bush. choosing to spend our $15 on greens & root vegetables instead of the lovely- but inedible- lilac bush, i continued to dream of lilac throughout the day.

the weekend passed too soon & monday was here. i was staring out the window when i spotted a pretty purple flower out of the corner of my eye. to my surprise, the big unidentifiable bush out our window was in full bloom with the most beautiful, sweet scented lilac.

every night for dinner, luke & i set the table with candles, cloth napkins, & a bouquet if we're lucky. we always sit side-by-side, sharing conversation & a few moments of rest before going on to our next task. i cut a few lilac blooms for our dinner that evening & placed the stems in a mason jar to make our dinner table a little more special.

these are the little moments that make life precious. a wrinkled tablecloth & a mason jar of surprise lilac.

happy wednesday, friends. take notice of the little delights today!
love,
natalie

p.s. i am over at tend today! stop by & say hello!

I love lilac too! Mine just started coming out this week. I buy a lilac perfume at ONF that's amazing! You should check it out. :) Lovely photos!

Oh my goodness, this is lovely. Fresh flowers add so much to a space. I just finished a chapter in edith schaeffer's book, "Hidden Art," in which she talks about the great value in making even our weeknight dinners beautiful. I love that idea and you look like you're doing her proud.

this is kind of an odd comment because it has not a lot to do with lilac, but i find myself in louisville, kentucky reading old wedontneednopizza posts and laughing and seeing all of these sweet comments from you and jess! ahhhh..wonderful nostalgia and heart-yearning to start up that blog once more :) that is all. :)
